Latest Positions

Senior 3D Game Artist.


General Duties:

  • Work closely with producers, game designers and artists to implement a next-generation game
  • Create the models, textures and materials for; characters, props, architecture and terrain
  • Participate in planning milestone delivery schedules for all art assets
  • Re-create surfaces/materials in Substance Designer/Painter using a PBR workflow based on gathered reference
  • Participate in establishing and maintaining the highest visual quality bar overall for the game
  • Ensure the art produced meets the performance and memory requirements of the game engine and the target platforms
  • Follow Tantalus' standards and best practices
  • Assist and mentor other artists in your areas of expertise

Skills, Abilities and Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years as a 3D game artist, specifically 3 - 5 years working as a Senior game artist
  • Expert in Maya, Photoshop, Substance and Z-brush
  • Ability to generate top-notch art and design in a variety of styles with a portfolio of work demonstrating this
  • Familiarity with large-scale projects
  • Demonstrated ability to create and deliver to deadlines
  • Naturally works as part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • A genuine enthusiasm and passion for the games industry

Desirable:

  • Recent console development experience
  • Experience with JIRA, Perforce, and other project management tools

Multi-player Programmer.


General Duties:

  • Work closely with producers, game designers and artists to implement a next-generation game
  • Implementing, optimizing and maintaining multiplayer game systems
  • Modify, enhance and maintain asset pipelines and tools
  • Staying up-to-date with new technologies and architectures
  • Follow Tantalus' standards and best practices
  • Assist and mentor other programmers in your areas of expertise

Skills, Abilities and Qualifications:

  • Good familiarity with game engine architectures
  • Good familiarity with networking architectures, Internet protocols, etc.
  • Excellent C++ programming skills
  • Familiarity with large-scale C++ project development
  • Writes clear, robust, maintainable code
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to create and deliver to deadlines
  • Naturally works as part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • A genuine enthusiasm and passion for the games industry

Desirable:

  • Recent console development experience
  • Good grasp of, and experience writing in, assembler dialects (e.g. MIPS, PowerPC, X86)
  • Experience writing in shader languages (e.g. GLSL, HLSL)
  • 3 years' games software development experience
  • Experience with code optimization and profiling tools (i.e. VTune, PIX)
  • C# and/or a scripting language (e.g. Python)
  • Experience interfacing with 3D art applications (e.g. Maya)
  • A degree in a course such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Mathematics preferred. Self taught applicants must be able to demonstrate a high level of competency with game related demo code
